Materials

I generally gather materials during the promenades along my hometown (Chuquis, La Rioja).
This magic place provides and inspires me for creation; the pod’s curvature of the visco tree intermingled with the sharpened point of the cardón thorns and root threads the flood takes away and shows on the dry bed of the river.
I recreate those images in my city contour and capture them in an object that accompanies and reminds us the beauty of Nature. How not to share them with all of you?
My passion leads me to collect materials from everywhere I go. (Timbó pods from Chaco, small lenga leaves from Ushuaia, bird’s feathers from El Palmar de Colón, and the noble wicker from Tigre-reed and peel). I carry thorns, roots, bark, seeds, pods, inflorescences in my rucksack…
And once I’m back in Buenos Aires, I do the harvest recount.
All these material along with rope, threads, yarns, fabric, some natural varnish, iron and wood bases, compose the structure of the objects.
How do I work?
Sketching a little on paper. The work takes form following the materials, assembling.
Just for the sake of weaving….
